The Malawi Institute of Management (MIM), was established by the Malawi Government through the Act of Parliament No. 7 of April, 1989 to provide Leadership and Management Training, Consultancy and Research services. The mandate of MIM is to deliver these core services to managers in all sectors of the economy.
As a parastatal, MIM is governed by a Board of Governors duly appointed by the Government. The current Board comprises of the following Governors:
MIM is headed by the Executive Director, who leads a pool of well-trained Management Development Consultants who provide the core services of training, consultancy and research services to the clientele. MIM operates through Directorates and these are:

MIM uses a pool of external adjunct members who are called on need basis to complement the internal faculty staff capacity.

Kanengo campus, MIM's permanent home, is endowed with purpose-designed seminar and syndicate rooms, conference halls , computer laboratory, learning resource centre, 64 bed hostel, campus-wide internet, squash and tennis courts and volleyball pitch, among others.
The campus provides a total learning environment geared towards enhancing the quality of MIM services
